do you think these are worthwile router bits? or not that good? the sale definitely makes them quite attractive price wise (my local sears store has them for $239 list)

I don't like that they're only 1/4" shank, I've resolved to use 1/2" shank bit whenever possible in my woodworking for the strength stability and safety.

And Compare to the $99 (USD) 30-piece set at www.MLCSWOODWORKING.COM for value...
Not to mention MLCS's free shipping and great customer service. (do they ship to Canada? I asusme you're in Canada but your profile is el-Blanko.)
You could do as well, also at Holbren's, he has great service and low prices and a product that seems to have a lot of satisfied customers, too.

whoops, didn't realize I forgot to fill my profile... anyways yeah, I am in Canada and given that I am still relatively new to 'advanced' woodworking projects (up to now I built a few things mostly with hand tools and my trusty jig saw) I don't own any router bits, and so I was looking for a good starter set and a good cabinet door set (the project I want to tackle post crown-moldings is redoing my kitchen cabinet doors).

I have heard that freud bits are quite good, and that I should stick to 1/2" bits, so I'm wondering if I should just avoid the low-priced sets and just go for broke since they'll last me a long time if I get something good quality.

Anyways thanks for the tip, mlcs does ship to Canada but, of course, not for free, I'll have to investigate how much they charge for the set.

Seeing that your in BC, Canada there is a fellow right in your back yard for routere bits and sets:

        Blades N Bits

Fantastic service ... located in Canada ... bits seem pretty decent from the use I've given them so far ... I bought the 66 piece set with 1/2" shafts and been really pleased

For a super deal on 30 piece set, check out this set (limited quantities) @ $52.95 CDN:

30 Piece Set w/ Damaged Case

By the way, nice to meet another fellow Cannuck!!!

great, thanks for the tips, and nice to meet a fellow Canuck as well, it sure feels like we're second class sometimes when looking at bargains (up here, to give you an idea, the current sears bt3k sells for $899, and no sales to speak of...)

YUP I know what you mean ... I wonder if when Lowes takes over the large RONA superstores if we'll be able to get in on the action with price matching at least ...
