    Is this a bargain?

    http://montana.craigslist.org/tls/256644799.html

He's asking $5000 for his whole shop (not including the building). I did a little math in my head and came up with maybe $3000. Am I way off on something?

I e-mailed him and made an offer on the Leigh 24" jig just in case. I offered $250. Is it worth more than that?

    Thanks,
    Travis

I agree with Loring. As to the Leigh jig, is it a D4 or a D4R. The D4R is the current model, and has some improvements. The D4R goes for about 480$ new.

This is what I came up with off the top of my head for quick guesstimates on new pricing. I think I came up with about $4600 or so, could easily be +/- 1000 depending on model #'s I bought a used leigh d4 with bits, no manuals or anything else, for $190 a couple months ago.

        delta unisaw w/52" fence $1500
        delta 6" jointer $500
        delta 14" bandsaw $500
all are cabinet models on mobile bases.
        also:
        jet 2hp dust collector $300
        ryobi 3hp router $150
        delta mortising tool $250
        delta tenoning jig $75
        dewalt 12" mitre saw $250
        porter cable tiger saw $125
        bosch jig saw $100
        elu biscuit joiner ? $100
porter cable bammer finish air nailer (should be thrown away) $200
        porter cable 7 1/4" saw $150
Leigh 24" dovetail jig with router bits $400
lots of miscellaneous bits, blades, tools, etc. $0

          Raising a semi-comatose thread. . .

Why should the Bammer Porter Cable nailer be thrown away?
Enco 12" RT table saw(with router table currently added to right wing), Central Machinary 6" jointer, Delta 16" (17-900) drill press, Ridgid 14" bandsaw, Jet bench top Mortising machine, Porter Cable 6901 series routers (2) and a wide variety of Ryobi 18v tools.

They got a bad rap - I had one and used it for years on numerous jobs doing baseboard, trim etc.

Yes - they required a lot more pressure than a standard nailer, and you needed to follow the instructions in the manual for "charging" the gun for use the first time, but I never really had any problems with mine.

The main problem I had was the plastic collating would bind it up sometimes, so you just had to open the front flip lever at the nose and clear out the plastic gunk occasionally.

Most folks who dog em have never used them.

Biggest problem with them now is that you can only get the gas cells at PC service centers and they run about $15 a pop (compared to about $6 a pop when the guns were released.
