Not oak, but i don't think it is maple either. It kind of looks like the Asian hardwood that you see in a lot of import hardwood furniture. They aren't as nice as my Jorgensen handscrews, but not terrible either. I think the JET name is buying quality controlled Chinese clamps, not a premium quality USA made tool.
