    Delta 37-195 6" Closed Stand Jointer $150!

Went to the Homier traveling tool sale this past weekend. After navigating the sea of off-brand junk, I found a Delta jointer hiding in a corner. Turned out to be a 37-196 (remanufactured 37-195). After seeing there ridiculous prices on remanufactured DeWalt and PC hand tools, I figured the jointer would be a rip-off as well. Couldn't find a price anywhere so I asked. $149!! Snatched one up right away. I don't have it completely setup yet, but everything looks perfect. Tables are flat and coplaner and in perfect condition. I don't believe this was ever even assembled. All the paint around bolt holes, etc... is intact. At this point I'm pretty clueless as to why it is remanufactured. The only oddity is the base. The powder coat and decals on the base on the latest and greatest Delta colors. The logo on the jointer itself is the older one with the yellowish (?) lines under the logo and the paint is a slightly different color. Confusing but I can deal with it for $149!

The Homier truck had 4 more units plus the display left and will be in Chillicothe, MO this Friday and Saturday. SHould be a pretty easy drive for anyone from Des Moines or Kansas City looking for a good deal.

I got the same deal. At first I thought it would be a HF type jointer, but when I opened the box for a peak, found a Delta. Had it put together the same night. The fence is not the best design, but it's size makes up for some of the flaws.
I used it over the weekend and absoluty love it. Now I can mill flat lumber without a lot of effort.

Wow, good snag guys! I thought I got a deal on my 37-275x for ~$350. But I'd buy one of those for that price if I could!

Great deal, now you need a DC to catch those cuttings piling up on the left...

Actually I have a DC, just wanted to try out the jointer before I moved it to its spot. Not to worry, its hooked up now. DC seems to work well, hardly any chips coming out the top.

The one time I caught a Homier traveling show was in PA. They had no deals like you guys got. I was suprised at some of the prices they were charging for some stuff.

                      Scoony,

Did you have any problem with the pulleys lining up? I have heard of people having to flip the pulleys to get them to aline. It looks like thats what I am going to have to do. Even with the horizontal adjustment in the motor mounts, I can't slide it enough to get it to line up.

I had no issues at all. Everything lined up correctly. I am still waiting on a flat tip for my dial guage to make sure, but The knives seem to be set correctly and the tables did not need any adjustments. I have used it on a few boards to face joint and they come out flat and ready for the planner.

                          burrellski,

Great tip! I've been looking for a deal on a jointer in the KC area.

I checked the Homier web site and found the Chillicothe link among the list of shows, but I didn't see another in the St. Joe area this past week. When and where did you find the 5 Delta's?

I ask because it appears that Homier has more than one traveling circus working each weekend and it's about a hundred mile drive from me to Chillicothe. I'm off work Friday and could make the run, but I'd like to feel better that there might actually still be a jointer there before I go.

                          Thanks!
                          Lee

They were in St Joe Nov 23-26, I picked up mine on Saturday. I receive emails letting me know when they will be in my area. According to the emails, it looked like they were leaving St Joe for Moberly (sp?) and then to Chillocothe. No guarantee its the same group of trucks I guess, but the days the shows were open seemed to indicate it was one group, i.e. they weren't in two places at once. Maybe you can find a phone number for the building they are having the sale in and try to call them?

                            Good luck
