    Recon PC cordless router $129

Opinions wanted. Would seem handy for a quick small roundover or chamfer. Only takes 1/4 inch bits. Best price I've seen is usually about $200. Would a better option be a bosch colt for this type use?

well it does say 1/2" collets are available.
But I would only buy a unit like this if I were doing frequent work requiring
a few cuts when cord power was not available.
The battery pack will be expensive and will probably always be depleted when you plan to use it unless you charge it up ahead of time and batteries not frequently used tend to go bad. Also batteries left on charge without use tend to go bad. So there's no winning.

      Craig,

If you have to go cordless and all your looking to do are some roundovers and the like, I would suggest this trimmer from Ryobi. It spins at a steady 26000 and there is an optional router base for it. It's around $30-$40. Two batteries will set you back another $34. I'm just waiting on a potential holiday markdown before pulling the trigger ( I do have Ryobi batteries already though)

        Would it be strong enough?

the 18V Ryobi Circular saw in my opinion is VERY weak. Frequently jams up while cutting, etc. I should have bought a quality corded circ. saw. This is the reason that I wonder whether it would be strong enough.

My 18V Ryobi drill that I use as back up to my Bosch is good, but if I use it for a while my hand hurts where as I can use my Bosch all day without any issues.

Only good one so far has been the wet/dry vac (non-canister) that my wife uses all the time as well as the flash light. Flash light does last forever.

Battery pack is VERY reasonably priced so that is also positive.

Even my Miwaulkee CS is a problem w. battery drain. I have the Ryobi too and it is really for sheet goods or xcuts on 2x's on a limited use basis.
That PC router is not reviewed as very good.
I am going to look into that ryobi trimmer at sale time.

I think it would be plenty strong as long as your expectations are'nt sky high. I've had good success with the circular saw and prefer it over having to get my heavier PC and extension cord. You will get much better results and no binding with a fresh battery, but it is one of those tools that the second the battery falls below 85% (my guesstimate) it will bind in thick stock.

Echoing Andrews comments, I've used it for knocking down plywood and even mdf. I think you would have much greater runtime with the trimmer above and you'll have for more forwarning when the battery is getting weak (obviosly the trimmer will slow unlike the circ saw which will bind.)

I bought the router the other night based on the post but a buddy of mine just pointed out that you could get it for $119 if you go to Amazon and buy it through PC there rather then directly (SAME exact seller)

              PLUS Amazon has free shipping

Not a huge amount of added savings but I hate getting ripped off by the same comapny simply becaue I wasn't looking at the right website
