Good deal on Fuji 2903 Mini-Mite 3 HVLP Spray System

This is a good deal for somebody who is in the market for one of these HVLP systems.. Amazon has the Fuji 2903 Mini-Mite 3 HVLP Spray System with free shipping and with the current promotions, this unit can be shipped to your door for $372.54. This is the best price I've seen for this caliber of an HVLP system which seems like a nice unit.

    Fuji 2903 Mini-Mite 3 HVLP Spray System for $528.18
Less 20% instant discount ($105.64) on paint supplies
SAVEMORE $50.00 of $300.00 coupon code
Final price = $372.54 shipped to your door

For somebody who was almost ready to fork up $528.18 for one of these units, getting it for $372.54 is one heck of a deal.

Thanks for the tip. I took the plunge last night, and bought the optional conversion gun with it also.

BTW, last night was the deadline for the deal.

I am nervous too. I have never sprayed anything. I don't even have a project in the near future. But my slat projects, I hated the finishing the most, and most of my problems were tied up in the finishing.

I considered buying a cheaper Wagner finespray unit from Gleem for $69, or even a conversion gun from Gleem for $129 that supposedly can be hooked up to a pancake compressor.

But I really didn't hear enough from people that had actually used these set-ups to feel confident in them.

I may have really gone into overkill mode. I bought most of my machinery used, so this is more than I have paid for any tool. ANd the '3 stage tangential turbine system' , if you read all the fine print on the companies web site, is essentially a vacumn cleaner motor! So we have bought expensive Hoover with the hose hooked up to the exhaust end!!!!

              Guys,

You'll love this unit, I've had the older model since it came out. Just be meticulous in keeping the gun clean and you will be able to produce very fine finishes.

ward - when you finish frame and panel doors, are there any tips you can give me?

I assume you finish after assembly? Any problems or tips about getting into the corners and avoiding under or overcoverage? Is it just a matter of practice and experience? How do you finish both sides - do you use a board with nails pointing up?

Yes, finish after assembly, final sanding, etc.

One good way to practice is to spray water onto/into cardboard boxes. You'll be able to see what to avoid and how to handle the gun in close quarters.

The easiest way is to build a frame, hang the doors from it and spray both sides.

Be sure to wear a respirator even if spraying water base- all finishes have fairly toxic chemicals in them that can hurt you when vaporized during spraying.

I had never heard of or had the thought about building a frame - and it sounds so brilliant and obvious. Build something quick from 2 x 4's, with a nail on top and bottom to act as a pivot?

That tip alone was worth the price of admission!

You got the idea though I'd rip the 2 x 4's in half if the doors are not that large. Screw eyes under the beam, on top of doors, hang with picture wire. If you are spraying doors eye level or lower put the eye on the bottom so you don't have to worry about filling holes.

                      Glad it helped,

                        Got it.

When you are spraying a door then, do you spray both sides and all the edges all at once? Or do you have some type of sequence - spray one side, wait 2 minutes, spray all the edges, wait 2 minutes, spray the back?

I usually do edges then faces but I don't wait between. I use lacquer mostly.

                            Thanks.

I plan to use some type of water-based lacquer.
