    Keep an eye on HDT...

They've advised me that they will soon have Delta 15" planers, jointers, and "some other stuff" coming up on clearance... when? Don't know.

I was hoping to get one of the Delta bandsaws that was a killer $350... but turns out they only ever had one... they found under some packing peanuts... can you imagine?! The only thing I've ever found under my packing peanuts is more packing peanuts.

Sorry, yes HDT = Heavy Duty Tools ... isn't that an established TLA?

That last Delta blow out they had last month was awesome. I mean I missed every item, but still . . . . deep, deep discounts.

I have heard of great bargains on HDT but it is difficult to get them. The clearance and deep discount items are not heavily stocked (sometime they have just a few or handful) and are usually sold out quickly.

I bought my Makita LS1013L CMS from them and got up at 5:30 to have coffee ready for the 6:00AM opening sale. Almost everything went within 30 minutes. Picked up a DeWalt biscuit jointer too for $114 delivered during that sale.

Ya, he usually sells in whatever unit count the items are typically sold. He puts together special deals with vendors to help them move slow moving items. The key is being at the right place (in front of your computer) at the right time (when the email arrives!). HDT is a pretty small business which I believe is a division of another distributor. He will "take orders" if he can get big enough commitments and has the dough to make the deal. Example if we wanted to get 25 jointers as a group, he could probably make that happen given some time. Very nice guy located near Ashville NC.

I can attest that he's great/easy to deal with. I ordered the Delta mortiser for $120 (great deal) during the last Delta clearance but it came in with the broken head -- which seems to happen a lot with these mortisers during shipping based on the comments from Amazon.

I called him and he refunded the $120 without any fuss. He was out of the mortisers and told me to keep it because he didn't want it back. I live in the DFW area so there are 2 service centers (Dallas & Fort Worth). The Dallas svc. center wouldn't fix it under warranty because they said it was a shipping issue so the dealer needed to take care of it. Lucikly, the Fort Worth svc. center was nice enough to fix it under warranty.

Wow, that's some great customer service. I just received the gorilla glue from them and I have to say it was the best packing job I've ever seen. I've ordered tons of stuff from amazon and they don't put nearly the care in the packing as HDT did. Even though the glue isn't very fragile it came wrapped in bubble wrap with another layer of bubble wrap on the bottom of the box all while enclosed in a box filled with packing popcorns.

How do you get on an email list from HDT?

                        Thanks,

I really did find it under about 6 large bags of peanuts. There are 2 22-680 15" planers under about 150 6" pvc sch.40 dwv fittings piled up in the back also I have been debating keeping one of the planers for myself . Also uncovered is 1 17-965 drill press , 1 37-275x jointer , 2 MS250 miter saws, 1 GR150 grinder, 1 GR350 grinder, misc. blades, sanding discs, mobile bases, etc.

One of these first days some more of the clearance stuff will be listed.

Updating that website must be a real hassle... I'm sure if you simply attach $ signs to your posting here, you wouldn't have to bother updating the HDT website.

Also, if you keep both of the planers for yourself, it will save me the misery of having missed another great deal. Can you say "Frankenplaner"?
