    Double sided foam tape

At Office Depot. Yes - OFFICE Depot. They are clearanceing out the Office Depot brand double-sided foam tape 3/4 inch by 36 yards for $2.04. I haven't used it yet, but it seems very sticky. Might have trouble removing it cleanly, but it is cheap. Buy a half dozen rolls and you could route with a template the size of a football field! They also had some small packages of mounting squares for $.25 that could be handy. YMMV on whether there are any left at your store.

Tried it, wouldn't recommend it. Two reasons. Doesn't peel off well, leaving bits of foam behind. And, foam allows for some "play." 2-sided carpet tape (get mine at Ace) works better.

I agree with MilDoc, the height of the foam gives it a little side to side play which is not good for templates.

never tried the foam tape, but my first thought was just that...movement of the template.
