    Craftsman 22432 Bandsaw -- Clearance

Anyone have any experience with this bandsaw ? $199 sounds like a good price for it at first glance.

Any thoughts ? I'm beyond broke but can't resist looking......

I believe that this saw is the one that identical to the Hitachi that many of us have due to a clearance sale at Lowes.

Check out the following site :

    http://cb13f.cpu-etc.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

If it is the same as the Hitachi, then yes most people seem to be happy with it. I find it ok and probably worth around what you are looking to pay. Be sure to get a nice blade to go on it as the included one is pure crap.

Jeffrey, is there any sale you don't catch!??! You're making me jealous (as usual).

When was the Hitachi clearance?... I just heard about it the other day, but didn't find any.
        Never met a bargain I didn't like.

Looks like its depth-of-cut is 5" per spec (12" model).
If I'm right, folks look for 6" depth-of-cut minimum for serious resaw work.

Ryobi has a 10" model for $199... So in comparison, the 12" craftsman model looks like a better deal tho.

The Sears page said it's capacity was 14" x 6"....are you seeing something different ?

I agree, 5 would be less than what I'd really want.

On the "Description Tab" it says 14" x 6", but on the "Product Spec" tab it reads as follows:

              Cutting Tool:
              Depth Of Throat 12 in.
              Guide Yes
              Cut Depth Maximum 5 in.

Yep that's where I saw it to be 5"...
May be worth going over to Sears or checking an online copy of the manual.

Yeah, if that's the case I think I'll hold out for the BAS300 that someone else recommended -- 7" resaw capacity:

12" band saw with cutting capacity 14"x6"? Sounds like a bicycle with 4 wheels to me. They probably copied description from 14" band saw. There are few 12" band saws with 6" resaw capacity but it is not common. Also, is there a riser for this saw anywhere? I have seen statements about people mounting risers from 14" saws on a 12" Hitachi.

Was at Lowes a few months back for $125 or so. Just search the Bargin Alerts forum.

Resaw capacity is not a issue with this saw other than HP. There is a 6" direct mount riser kit marketed by Sears that fits this directly. I think it is around $60. See the link for the Hitachi Forum that I posted above for ordering details. You are going to have to have a great blade and lots of patience to resaw a 12" hardwood with this 3/4 HP saw.

                        Watch the shipping

                        Just an FYI

Sears wants 116 buck to ship this bandsaw.

If they have on local it's a great deal, particularly with the riser block.

MBG, sent you a PM asking about the sale price you sited at Sears... not sure you look at PMs, so I'll restate here...

If you or anyone else can post any proof of the price of $190 for the 14" saw MBG sites above (NOT the original posted saw) such as a receipt copy, store location and/or number, it'd be a big help.

At $190 the 14" sounds like a very good deal... anyone disagree?? Opinions sought.

                          Thanks,
                          David

That is more like a good Sears close out. David, this is what I would be shooting for pricewise.
