I talked with Steven in the tools department and Steven talked with (Lee?), who was in management, by phone. Steven then sent me to customer service to talk to Lee, who was not available. Lee told (John???) in customer service (via phone) that he had already told Steven it was OK to sale it to me at $139. When I went back to talk to Steven he was busy so another associate (name unknown) wrote up the ticket to do the deal.
I never did see (Lee?). It was kind of "Wizzard of Oz"ish really.
I bought the display model at the Sandy Plains store so there won't be one there. Steven called Upper Roswell Rd store and they didn't have one either.
I found 3 (1 display & 2 still in the box) of the 1300's in the Irving, TX store. I showed them the receipt but they wouldn't budge on giving the $60 off but offered a 10% off.
I picked up the former display model at the East Fort Worth, TX store for $139. I didn't even have to show a copy of the receipt. I asked what kind of deal I could get and the manager said he would give me 30% off. He added that the former manager would never come down on prices and would rather stack the old stuff on a rack someplace and gather dust. He said when it is discontinued he wants it out of the store. I don't know if they had any more old models in boxes, we didn't even look.
I can post a receipt tomorrow if anybody wants one.

I went ahead and bought one.

I just bought the floor model (had the dust chute and screws, knives, no hex key) for $159 at the 8400 Westheimer store in Houston. Couldn't get him to drop to 139, but it had both knives (unlike the one @ Richmond and Hwy 6.) and was very clean.
All in all, I'm pretty jazzed. Last week I didn't have a thickness planer or a jointer, now I have both for just over the price of 1 (HF 6" on sale + 20% off + 159 ap1300)...now if the G0555 would just go on sale for 50% off!
