The bottom of the canister has a rubber strip around the diameter. The inner diameter is 19.75" The canister also comes with a strip of foam tape that could go around the inside of the rubber if your dust collector is slightly smaller.

Found this page online a HOW TO CONVERT HF DC to Canister, not sure how well it'd work, but thought it might be useful. If anyone can recommend or warn against this article, please do. I do not make any representations.

that article is for one of the Wynn cartridges.
Wynn now offers a kit, I think. The fitting is different because the cartridge is much smaller than the ring.

The other canisters like JDS, Grizzly, PSI, Jet are all pretty much interchangeable on the 20" ring. THey hve a 19.75-20" diameter and just clamp on top. All of these have a beater handle that turns a three-winged beater to vibrate the pleats to drop the dust into the bag below.

The canisters are quite a bit different than the Wynn.

I did not have any trouble mounting the Grizzly replacement canister to my HF 2HP DC. CAn't speak to the other combinations but I expect them to be relatively easy.

I put one of the JDS canisters on my HFDC and it fits perfectly. The extra support included with the JDS filter doesn't fit the HFDC, but because the HF model has 3 supports for the bag ring the JDS bracket isn't really needed.

When I installed the JDS canister I had on an unbuttoned long sleeve shirt. I finished the install, hooked up a 10' section of 4" flex hose, and flipped on the HFDC. It caught the tail of my shirt and almost sucked the shirt right off my back.

BTW, because of a screw up on my part I ended up with an extra JDS canister kit. Although I can't offer free shipping like Amazon, I'd be happy to sell the extra kit for $120. Amazon's price is now $199.
