When I was trying to make up my mind on one a little while back... it jumed up in price just after 5 on a friday. I didn't take a chance this time. I wonder if there is any pattern there...

          Call Amazon they are AAAAAAwesome!!!

I put this in my cart 2 days ago but as I am travelling overseas right now I was not able to pull the trigger. I just checked back in and also found that it had gone back up to $231. I just got off the phone with customer service and explained this. If I was ready to place the order they said they would honour the price. I also mentioned the $25 promo (I was going to add another $11+ item to get the discount) for $199 and over, the operator said he would also honour this which he did as the new price was technically $231. So in the end I got the orginal price and the extra $25 off without ordering anything else.

Bottom line I place the order for only $155!!!!! (I had another small coupon)

Now thats what I call customer service - cant wait to get it.

I ordered one while still being on the fence with an estimated ship date of 4/17, I figured I had a little wiggle room to change my mind. Of course, I had a tracking number about an hour after I placed the order. And it's scheduled to arrive on the 21st.

Of course, it's on the truck for delivery right now, so I'll have it tonight.

I didn't really need a biscuit joiner anyway, and since I stripped the threads on my Ryobi 3 base router (god I've hated that thing since day 1, changing bases was worse than pulling teeth) I actually need a new router.

            Thanks for the heads up.
If it\'s broke, you can\'t break it more. Gimme that screwdriver.

This is a wonderful router and that was a great price. I purchased the Red Bosch (Craftsman version) when it first came out. Bosch did not have the kit with all the goodies yet. It is mounted under the accessory table on my BT3K in the fixed base. Works like a charm, and looks great in red! Anybody out there have/use the Bosch guide bushings? I have a set of the Craftsman busings, but don't really like how they fit.

I'm told the Red Craftsman 1617 do not have the holes for the Bosch bushing adapter.

It's still $231 today, (4/10) but you've got a $25 promo code THAT EXPIRES TODAY:

Special Offer: March 28, 2006, through April 10, 2006, use promotional code TWNTYFVE2BEN to get $25 off your total purchase of $199 of power tools, pneumatics, or accessories. Offer applies only to purchases of products sold by Amazon.com. Offer must be redeemed at our Web site, http://www.amazon.com, toward the purchase of products sold by Amazon.com. One per customer. This offer cannot be combined with other offers on the site.

I'd look tomorrow 4/11 and see if they ditch the promo code and drop the price again.

Ordered it Saturday, it shipped today! Cant wait to get it and try it out. Having the dual bases will be awesome as well as the above table adjustments.

Do any existing users have any recomendations on other accessories e.g. templets?

                      Bits.

LOL. But seriously dependent upon what bits you currently have, you will probably want to focus on those. The 1617 kit you ordered has everything you need to get started without question. You have router edge, centering cone and a few template/bushings in the kit.
EYE PROTECTION, HEARING PROTECTION and DUST REMOVAL are, IMHO, what you need to focus on with the router. (Along with a USEFUL bit range).

True to their word Amazon shipped on Monday and even with the free super saver shipping it arrived today!! Amazing and all for $155 wot a deal

Well I know what I will be spending my weeked doing - running this baby through its paces and figuring out how to bes set it in my router table and also in the BT3100.

Anybody fixed one of these to the BT3100? Should I buy or make a mounting plate?

I attached on to my BT3000 a while back, but it now resides on a woodpecker table.
I still have a 1617 fixed speed router to put on the BT3000 if I need another setup.

For the BT3000 mounting plate, I just drilled using the base as a template. There's a few secrets to drilling aluminum if you don't drill aluminum often, ask.
