    HF 8" Dado Set $19

I was in the Chula Vista Harbor Freight last week picking up a horizontal bandsaw (metal-cutting). They had flyers annoucing Dollar Days April 7 (or *th?)-15. They had the 8" Lifetime Carbide Dado Set listed at $19 down from the normal $40.

I don't know if this is a local sale or across the chain, so I would call before going over next week.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Model 40745 set and if you are, almost everything I've ever read about that set has been negative. HF has another set, Model 44566, that is much better and goes on sale every now and again for around $30. In this case, it's better to wait.

I'll check the ad this evening and confirm the part number. (It's at home.)

The 44566-4VGA set is better. It is on sale now for $30.00

Standard warning for using the HF dado set on the BT3x:

This 44566 dado set is rated for around 4500 rpm.
The picture of the 40745 set on the HF website looks like it says "MAX RPM 7000," but the text description says 4500 rpm.

The Bt3x spins faster than 4500.

Also, Ryobi recommends a 6" dado stack. Others here have reported that they have used the 8" without problems.

After looking at the pics, I'm pretty sure its the first part number - not desireable.

I was thinking about it for my RAS rather than my table saw.

I've actually received pretty good results with the #44566 dado set. It is a rather heavy set with the full plate style chippers but the results are clean flat bottomed dados. The #44566 may not be a good set for the BT3xxx but then again not everyone here has a BT3xxx either.

I do hate to admit it, but my table saw is from the dark side. Ridgid TS2400LS.

Don't hate to admit it, I had a BT3K for years, now have a TS3650.

HF dado - Had one returned it. At least hold out for the 6" Avenger.

Here is a link to someone who has compared the HF dado sets: http://home.mchsi.com/%7Elarrylhote/...p/dadocomp.htm

The better HF one looks pretty good, particularly for $30. It is on sale a lot less often than the cheap HF dado set, which is usually $20.
