    Costco - Delta Bandsaw

The shopmasters that are on clearance have appeared in Costco. I saw the 12" bandsaw for 199$ there, not sure that it's a great deal, but that's what was there.

Hmmm. That sounds pretty good to me. I would love to have a 14" but I really don't need one since I don't resaw. A 12' would probably do me just fine. I've been doing fine with my little 9" so a 12' should be all I actually need. I wonder if they make a decent saw though? $199.99 sure sounds good.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's a near clone of the Hitachi CB13F that everyone has been getting at lowes for $120.

I just hope it's not the little three wheel 12"er as I've heard nothing but problems about them.

Mine had the two-wheeler. Assuming that all of the stores are carrying the same one, it looks like your fears are ungrounded.

The one that I saw was a 2 wheeler, I don't know the model #. If I'm up there again this week I'll check it for you guys.

The Delta 12" two -wheeler shopmaster bandsaw is the BS220LS.
At $199 its a good buy not a great deal. In the past they sold it for
as much as $300 at Amazon and when it became shopmaster
they dropped it to $229 in the stores so $199 is a fair price.
The 12" Hitachi for $139 or $129 is similar and a better deal. I think also the Delta has been sold at Lowes last year early clearance priced real low when they were clearing out a bunch of Delta stuff.

I used a bandsaw in a class once but otherwise I'm not terribly familiar with them and what they're used for except to cut curves.

How do the Hitachi 12" bandsaw and the Grizzly G0555 14" bandsaw compare in terms of function and quality? Presumably resawing is not an option on the 12" because the allowable width of a board to be resawn is too limited?

With a riser block the Hitachi can cut 11 inches as opposed to the 12 inches for the Grizzly.

I think the main differences would be the power (motor HP) and the usable blade size. The Grizzly also comes with some things that the Hitachi doesn't, fence, roller guides, etc.
