Send me your address, I'll send you a replacement.

Also, take it slow and shallow with the 1/4" straight bit in 1/2" shank set. Some of them meet the same fate as the thinner 7/32" bits.

You should be able to take 1/4" with the 1/4" shank 1/2" straight bit, just take it slow. That M12V doesn't bog down so the inclinatin is just to try and plow through.

With the 1/4" diameter straight bits and smaller, 1/8" is preferred. It depends on feed rate and vibration. I keep some double fluted 1/4" solid cabide bits for those that break them. May even change the set like I did with the dado bits.

Brian - Did you get my emails sent through the Holbren site? I tried to contact you a couple of times via email to cancel my order because of the shipping discrepancy but haven't heard back from you. Just want to confirm that the order was cancelled. Thanks.

Once again Brian has provided great customer service again. After my posting last night I received an email from him first thing in the morning. It turns out he did try to contact me to resolve the shipping issue but for some reason I didn't get the email. Anyhow the customer service he's provided for my last to orders is second to none and I will be keeping the original order rather than cancelling it. Thanks Brian!

                Brian,

When are you expecting the rabbiting sets back in stock? And if I agree to buy the first round at the Willow Tree will you just deliver them, instead of shipping them?

Here is the story on the rabbeting sets. When they shipped them to me last they didn't pack the bearings well and they banged into the bits chipping the carbide on most of the 1/2" height bits and almost all of the 1/4" ones. I still have some sets but haven't had the time to go through them. I get about a 1 in 10 success rate. They shipped me replacements but misunderstood only sending a single bit and not the full 3 piece set.

So, I have rabbeting bits. Just let me know what you need as far as cutting height. You are local so buy me a beer and I'll bring some bits and bearings.

At the head of this thread the following prices were quoted

                    24pc 1/4" shank set $19.95
                    35pc 1/2" shank set $59.95
                    36pc 1/4" shank set $49.95

As I look at your website they dont seem to be the same although the 24pc does show free shipping. so 2 questions

Which prices are right and exactly what are the contents of the 24 & 36pc 1/4 sets.

Here's my suggestion, for what is worth. Contact Brian at Holbren direct and he will give you any info you need. Again, I found him to be very helpful and professional.

The sale mentioned earlier in ths thread is apparently over, but free shipping is back on all orders. So probably not much difference.

I would imagine either the 1/2" or 3/4" cutting height being you can set the height of the actual rabbet anyway. I think most of the guys that do single bit sets give you a 3/4" tall bit but I can't see where 1/2" isn't enough.

If someone is making a rabbet that is more than 1/2" tall I want to know what they are making.

How about Willow Tree on Friday during the day if you can.
