Holy crap. Wanted to cut my drive down so I called Bethleham PA Sear Essentials store and they are willing to price match the one they have in stock. They were very nice in that they are holding this one for me to come pick it up. There are no more in stock. If one of you guys want the one I have on hold in NJ let me know and I will call them and change the hold over to your name.

I've been lurking here for a while now and learning a lot. I felt this offer was too good to pass up so I was going to head to Bethleham tonight. I called first.. but the person I had on the phone (from hardware), said they had none in stock except for two they were holding for somebody else. He also said he knew nothing about $499 and these were going for $749. Guess I had the wrong person on the phone and missed the boat on this one...

        Sears Essentials name will disappear

        By Susan Chandler
        Special to The Morning Call

Sears Essentials has turned out to be not so essential. Less than a year after unveiling it, Sears Holdings Corp. has decided to abandon the new retail brand it once touted as the future of the Kmart-Sears merger.

On Monday, Sears informed employees that the Sears Essentials name, which is currently on 50 former Kmart stores, will be going away. Those stores will be renamed Sears Grand, a similar off-the-mall retail format featuring Sears' products along with convenience food items and a pharmacy.

The only Sears Essentials store in Pennsylvania operates on Route 191 in Bethlehem Township. Another 14 stores that were set to debut in May as Sears Essentials now will open as Sears Grands, including one in McHenry, Lycoming County. The changeover does not involve any store closings.

''Eventually, the people who shop these stores are just going to say they are going to 'Sears,' '' said Chris Brathwaite, a Sears Holdings spokesman. ''The distinction in names was not worth the incremental investment in maintaining three named formats.''

Well the PA store and the NJ is now out and I couldn't get either of my local stores to match the price. I'm so bummed. If anyone finds an extra in driving range of PA please let me know.

This $500 for the 22124 is unheard of.

(I think this may be a gloat - I doubt if any other Sears are offering the saw at this price.)
            Sorry - I wasn't thinking of a "new" 22124 - the followup post I had in that thread indicated a "used" 22124 for <$450.

Long story, happy ending. Based upon this thread I called Sears Essentials 02/28/06 in NJ. They had the floor model 22124 $499 - 10% for floor model = $449. Asked them to hold it for me and I would pick up 03/01/06 and they agreed. THinking I could save a few miles I called Bethleham PA store. They said they had one in stock and one of floor. I asked price and they said $749. I advised that I would pass as I could get one in NJ. The sales person then OFFERED "We can match their prices". I asked him to check the floor model to make sure it had no major damage or missing pieces. He comes back to phone and says it is great. I ask him to hold the floor model and I will come pick it up 03/01/06. Get to thinking about the comment by earlier poster about selling for $750 on sawmillcreek.org, so I called back, spoke to a different person and advised to hold both saws. They agreed.
03/01/06 rent large 6 x 12 U-Haul enclosed trailer as they are calling for bad weather. Drive 2.5 hours to Bethleham. Get into store and the floor model has light rust over entire table and is missing rails and fence! Sales person says they have no idea where those items are and spends 45 minutes looking. Never finds them. I ask him to check with manager if they could sell me the floor model at a larger discount. I am thinking $200 - $250 and I have a nice dedicated saw for cross cutting sled, dado, etc. He comes back and advises that they will not budge on $449 for floor model. I advise I will just take boxed model. He advises they can not sell it for less than $749. He goes back and forth to a manager that is hiding somewhere and refuses to come out. I am shaking I am so mad. I then advised the sales person that I understand it is not his fault and I will make sure that I keep him out of harms way as I work my way up the corporate complaint chain. I ask him to pass along a message full of really bad words to his manager and also told him that the manager was a coward (I used harsher words) for not coming out to talk to me face to face.
I go to the front of the store and get the national complaint number. The folks up front are freaking out because they said all complaints should be resolved to my satisfaction in the store. I told them the manager refused. On my drive to NJ I call the 800 number and convey my store. They agree completely and ask what I would like the resolve to be. I advised I wanted a new saw in the box delivered to my house. She advised that she would call me today to make arrangements for the same. Cool.
Get to NJ store, and I assume they have heard something about this story, because they are the nicest, most accomodating folks I have EVER had provide me service. 1 manager and 2 sales people (one was trainee) took care of my order. They ring up floor model at $499 and the manager says I should have a discount off that and I said 10%. She said nope it should be 20% off! 22124 out the door for $399.99 plus tax. The manger then says "You want an air compressor? I got one I want to get rid of." (This is where gloat comes in). She advises she has 7.5 hp 60 gallon compressor she would sale for $140. They group takes me to the warehouse and shows me a brand new, prestine compressor. I advise yes I would take it. She then startes unloading all kinds of crap from the storeage room on me, but that would be too much gloating.
Funny thing the manager said "Are you guys all friends?". I knew immediately she was talking about the forums. I said yes. She said she sold the TS, couple of BS's, etc and everyone seemed to know each other because they "had a friend" that told them about it! LOL! Oh, the other funny thing was when I showed up the manager turned around and told some dude, "This is the guy that is getting the saw you are asking about". Had to be someone from the forums!
Posted are receipts and signage. It sounds like you may get somewhere with a Sears Essentials store if you have one locally. Regular Sears stores are NOT going to match the prices. I am not sure what the story is with the compressor ie store overstock, return or closeout but I am posting it as well.

This thread caught my eye when it started. I found that there was an Essentials store about 50 miles from me and gave them a call to see if they had any similar deals. The associate said that they did have some saws on sale and offered to check on what they had and call me back. About a couple of hours later he called and said that he had a DeWalt on legs, and the 3 Craftsman saws, 407.00 for the 22114 and 599 for the 22124, and all that was left were the floor models. I told him I was interested in the 22124 and he said that it was complete, it just had a lot of fingerprints on it. I also discussed the possibilty of having the saw delivered and he said he would check and get back to me. A while later he called back and said that they could deliver it for a $60.00 charge. I also asked if he could put a hold on it until I got there but he said that he was not allowed to do that, so I planned to go the next moring. Due to a storm I didn't make unitl the day after that, however I happened to check this thread again and read Jeffrey Schronce's post above. I also printed the clearance 499.00 sign that Jeff posted and brought it with me.
I checked out the saw and decided to buy it. The associate that I spoke to on the phone was off that morning and a different one handled the transaction. I asked him if he could check that the 599.00 price was correct and showed him the printout of the clearance sign. He said "wow!", I'll give you a price match plus 10% of the difference. I said great, I'll take it. As We walked to the terminal I asked if they gave anything off for the floor model and he immediately said I get another 10% off for that. As he was completing the sale a box of Craftsman Club forms on the counter reminded me that I had'nt gotten any sales flyers lately so I found my old Club card and had him scan it to reactivate my account. When he did, the computer deducted another 59.99 from the total, and when all was done the final total was 386.95 + 60.00 delivery and tax.
I subsequently received an automated call from the delivery dept. confirming the delivery date. On the scheduled date when nothing showed up I called the delivery # and was told that the delivery had been cancelled, and to check with the store. I called the store and they said that they would check on it and call back. Eventually the original associate that I spoke to called back and said that they couldn't deliver the saw as he originally thought because I was outside their local delivery area for deliveries originating from the store, and that I would have to pick up the saw. Of course, they would refund the 60.00 delivery charge and in addition, for goodwill, they would reduce the price I paid by another 10%. As a result of this thread and Jeff Schronce's post of the sign, plus Craftsman Club and the delivery snafu, I ended up puchasing the 22124 saw for the final price of 348.25 + tax out the door. (Now I need figure out what to do with my BT3K! )

BTW, when I returned to pick up the saw, the only saw still there was the DeWalt, the other 2 Craftsmans were sold.

I am voting Newbie2wood as best bargain hunter of the year.

He not only found a bargain on the table saw, but he also found the Craftsman 14' bandsaw for $239.00 a few weeks ago. Thanks to him I got one of those.

I agree with the other poster who stated the employees in the Sears Essentials store in Planfield NJ are wonderful to work with.

I hope those of you who have saved a ton of money on these bargain alerts will make a donation to the BT3Cental Fund Drive. I sent my contribution earlier this week.

I posted on the NJ store and it was amazing how nice they were!

I felt the same way and sent in my contribution the day after I got home with the saw! Now to unload the Jet Contractor saw I got for $150 only a few months ago!

Toolhound, what store did you get to give you the great deal? Was it an essentials store or just a regular sears store? My friend down in MD is looking for one now.
Also, could you post the reciept? I think it would be great if we could get a few on here to help out other folks.

If anyone is still looking for the 22124 in the southern california area I spotted one today at the Glendale , CA store. I saw a floor model but wasn't sure if they had any new in box. Just a heads up.

Most Sears have this saw plus other two lower models but the question is
WHAT is the PRICE in Glendale?
