You can get 50foot of PSI's hose for $40 on Amazon shipped, which from all I've read is better as it is more flexible, but still doesn't collapse.

Another thumbs up for at least one of the accessory kits (I picked up two).

Here is a link to the current (in store) 20% off coupon: http://ww2.harborfreightusa.com/show...taf?pageid=214

Well I guess this will be it tommorow, $159 - 20% = $127.20 since I missed a SNIPE on ebay today. 2 HP Bridgewood went for $56 about 30 miles from my house. I scrambled to get to the site about 3 minutes to late! Well, it was 8 years old and in pretty bad shape anyway!

Dang, this forum is getting me in trouble. I keep on buying tools at great prices. Remember the big tool buying orgy at Lowes almost two years ago? I bought the CMS with dual laser, 580 13" planar, JT-160 bench top jointer, 12" drill press for $600. My wife is just starting to talk to me again, and now this happens...

Thanks! I was going to wait until I got my shop built and then go for the Delta 1 hp DC for $199, now I'll be visiting the local HF in the morning after work. Too good to pass up for $127.00.

Which wynn kit did you go for ? They have 2 listed, one is $130, one is $91, and another page shows a guy doing a "diy" deal with a $70 cart and a $10 plastic bag. I guess were I to spend $60 on a set of bags, I may be tempted to spend an extra 10 or so for the cart, but, $130 is double that, and from what I have read I am not really convinced a cart is all it is stacked up to be after some usage. Plus , something about adding $130 bucks to a DC that only cost me about that much to start with just don't sound right.

The smilie notwithstanding, look at it this way: if you buy a JET, Delta, Penn State, Grizzly, et. al. 1-1/2 to 2HP DC with a factory-installed cartridge filter, you'll pay $475-500 (plus significant freight charges, for some of them). That means the HF unit plus Wynn's better filter kit is still an excellent deal.

(BTW, although I cannot prove it, I am highly suspicious that the 1-1/2HP unit from Penn State is identical to the HF 2HP, except for the red paint job.)

I've never read anything that suggested a filter wasn't the way to go; where did you see that? I intend to buy the better kit from Wynn, just as soon as the weather warms up.

                    - the cartridges clog and the performance then deteriorates.
                    - they are hard to clean correctly
                    - Read of guys finding gallons of dust stuck in their carts after finding the perf had dropped drastically.

can anyone tell us the shipping on this thing? the website faq says anything above $100 is 9.99 shipping, but if it has a certain asterisk thing, freight shipping surcharge of $40 is added. However, this dc unit doesn't have that asterisk thingy, but I can't believe its accurate.

I ask cuz with the 20% deal its like $127+ shipping, but if shipping is another $50, then its not such a good deal.

I think it is worth everyone considering purchase to visit the above link and check out the HF DC Board. Of particular interest to me was the following set up . . .

Uses both bags for optimal filtrationa and less CFM reduction while using plastic bag on bottom for easy disposal. I really like this. Note, everyone including owner of above trash can cyclone confirm that 2hp system is sucking everything out of the trash can cyclone.

I ordered mine yesterday and they charged $9.99 for shipping. but, that 20% coupon won't work on the website. It's for in store use only.

I talked to Rick at Wynn the other day about which cartridge to order. He claimed if I wasnt doing much work with solvents or oily woods that the paper blend would work just fine. He claimed that for the weekened woodworking that I do, that I would never wash the bag unless it came to a point in which it was totally necessary.

As it said on the website you can use compressed air to clean the outside and a shopvac to do the inside. It seems to me you could clean this thing faster and easier than a bag.

If you overpower the "trash can" cyclone, what you end up with is an empty trash can. He's saying, that using the 2 oversized bags w/lower plastic bag is providing so much air flow, that the trash can ends up being worthless as the stuff in it is getting sucked to the bag.

                                ---------------------------------------------------------------
Let me ad this, on a typical cyclone , you do not want anything getting past the cyclone. The idea is all the "stuff" swirls around in the cyclone and falls down into the collection unit and only air passes to the next stage , which typically would be a cart filter. An effecient cyclone would have everything hitting the collector under the cyclone, and nothing hitting the collector under the cart filter and thus the cart filter would have a very very long shelf live and cloging and what not would be of no real concern. The trash can jobs are really not gona catch the small dust, but, they can stop the bigger stuff from passing thru and also help save the impellor from collisions (and I'd suspect, were you to have a cart filter and not a bag, the trash can job would perhaps help save your cart from collisions which could tear it). However, as he pointed out, when you get your system running with a lot of CFM, the trash can jobs typically just flat out fail (they become a full pass thru unit). I suspect were one handy with sheet metal they could form a more proper cyclone in place of the trash can and put that up front and maybe bring back the purpose.
