    First woodworking tool to purchase.

In the letters to the editor of the most recent FWW (Fine WoodWorking), one man mentioned that an old timer woodworker who was excellent and well respected for his craft was asked: "What tool would he recommend for people just starting to buy first?" The reply was: "Buy a good wood burning fire furnace - to burn all of your mistakes!"

This seems like solid advice. I give all the evidence of my mistakes to the neighbor to burn in their outdoor fireplace.
