    cost of dent repair

We're thinking about selling one of our cars (Hyundai Santa Fe). There's a small dent in the hood from a walnut that fell on it. How much do you think that would cost to bang out? I'm not really interested in doing it myself.

Do you think the expense will be recouped in the sale? Otherwise, the car looks good cosmetically.

Can't see the dent, but go by the description of fair/good/excellent, in KBB. Without more info, I would expect the repair to cost more then you would recoup.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

I'll try to get a picture. It's about the diameter of a golf ball, probably 1/8" to 1/4" deep, and is close to the center of the hood.

Dang dent appeared a few days after we bought the car. But karma got to that tree as a week later a storm knocked it over and now its lumber is in my shop.

Traditional body shop repair (pull, fill, paint) would probably be more than it was worth, but you might try to locate a local paintless dent repair guy and see if he would do it for a reasonable price. They can work absolute magic as long as the paint isn't chipped. I have had several dings done this way over the years and have never been disappointed in the results. Any dealership will know of a good specialist. That's where they make most of their money - fixing dings in new cars before sale.

Paintless dent repair cost me ~$150.00 to have a couple of small dents taken out of the hood of my truck a few years ago. It took less than half an hour total and satisfied my OCD that I could no longer see them.

How old is the car? I believe cosmetic damage is only relevant on new cars. On older car there is no expectation of perfection and fixing dents will not increase resale value.

OK, that's the keyword I needed! I found several local businesses that do this with excellent Yelp ratings. Thanks!
