I'm in, interested in the details. Hoping planning is not in the 60 minutes, just processing of raw materials into a finished product.

Not for a "60 minute" contest. Possibly for a 2x6 or the like challenge.

Even though I've been doing this a number of "calendar years", I'm still a bumbling newbie when it comes to shop technique, and not very fast. I also don't have a permanent shop so setup time is a real consideration, including changing setups mid project.

I would be interested but not really sure how 60 minutes would work. The time could be used for just sanding and finishing one coat.

I am certainly up for some form of competition but this does seem rather limiting. I would rather see creativity over speed. As others have said the 2x6 challenge would be more interesting. We could maybe get some other ideas going.

I don't think so. 60-minutes doesn't give me enough time to even prep my tools. We'r shutdown for a while as my limited space is now dedicated to digitizing thousands of 35-mm slides that I've inherited.

The contest will be interesting to watch though and I look forward to reading how you all meet the challenge.

                  Good luck to everyone,

I can't say my name in an hour ... I work pretty slow ... I'd be interested in maybe a 4 hour project or a limited lumber project of some sort,

I say no to timed projects like that.

I say have a best of 2015 contest. Could have a couple different categories.

Sixty minutes is really an arbitrary number. I just wanted to suggest a time frame where people wouldn't be pressured into making a huge project. My whole goal with proposing this was simply to get everyone into their shops and make something.

One of the main complaints about this site is lack of traffic, which many say is because there is no content. Many also say there is no content because there is no real time for woodworking.

Whatever the timeframe, I envisioned the rules being somewhat relaxed and on the honor system. I figured starting with a project ready board (or boards) so we would not include prep time (planing, jointing, etc) since people like me would be starting with S4S stuff, nor would we include drying time for glue and finishes.

It was just an idea. If there is not enough interest, no big deal.
