    Woodworking in Orlando?

Driving to Orlando with the family. Will be there tomorrow (Sunday) until we get on the cruise ship Thursday. Any woodworking or crafty things to see in Orlando area? Looking for local artisans or craft district to do some window shopping.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Hope you are not leaving from Tampa on the cruise. I won't ever do that again. We left from there the week of Thanksgiving and had to wait in line from 10am until 5:30pm to get on the boat, in the cold threating to rain. Parking situation is awful also, no where enough to handle parking for 3 cruise ships x 2. What a mistake, Tampa has not got their act together here.

OK, first off, what is up with the foul tasting water in Florida?

Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to do any activities Lonnie suggested. On the drive down 95 on Sunday (after car wouldn't start because of drained battery from left on dome light), a rock hit my windshield making a nickel sized crack which grew to 8" by the morning. Had to cancel the Monday in-town repair to wait for onsite replace on Tuesday. Anyway, we've had fun chilling at the condo with all my cousins and kids' cousins so we haven't not had things to do. The horrendous traffic on the 4 was enough to keep us in. I don't want to tempt fate.

We are leaving from Port Canaveral tomorrow. Just booked parking at the terminal.

We're taking Amtrak auto train back.

          Merry Christmas everyone
          Paul

That is what water is suppose to taste like!
Most of Fla. such a large underground acquifer system that it blows out in springs and forms major rivers. Some of the unusual taste is from the different rocks it flows through, somtimes it is a sulfur taste but most flows through limestone and is considered hard water. You may be use to water that flows through hard rocks and is soft water. A lot of the Tampa area water is desaltinated sea water that goes through reverse osmosis and all kind of scrubbing processes and is about as pure as is gets, they have to add minerals back to it to make it where you can drink it.

Let us know how the Amtrack trip home works out.

Different places around the country have widely varying water flavor. My Dad's house in the same county is under a different water management authority and his water tastes pretty bad to me. We don't drink ours much and it is filtered again when we do. but it does taste good. I don't drink his at all. I often take a case or two of bottled water over there though. He's got this huge swimming pool, you see, and that water doesn't bother me.

Lonnie, that Tiffany exhibit at Morse Museum sounds a good bit like what I remember seeing years ago at Rollins College. Is there any relationship between the two?

Some things weren't meant to be. I'll have to plan better next time--and avoid flying rocks. We had some time to kill after disembarking the cruise ship and boarding the train (delayed an hour so we're waiting at the terminal right now) that we tried to get to some of these spots before we left. Skycraft looked cool but closed on Sundays. The Morse didn't open until 1pm but we did have a nice stroll in Winter Park. Reminded us of downtown LA Jolla when we lived in San Diego.
