For the general populace, you may be right. I read the title as "Point of Sale", but I'm active in fields where that is a common term. I actually had to think about it a bit before I realized what you meant, since the other term is not often used in "polite conversation"

agree with WT, if you are in the retail sales business dealing with cash registers and sales terminals, POS means point of sale and pops up first in your mind.
It is an unfortunate acronym, but its been around a long time.
