    Lumber Liquidators problems?

Saw "Lumber Liquidators" flashing on the business headlines, today.

    Anyone else watching?

I bought some shares in them awhile ago, since they seemed to be downright good at what they were doing.

a couple of years ago my uncle was going to buy flooring from LL. Luckily I had read some reviews about them the week before. Go read some reviews about lumber liquidators, but not the ones that are on their site or any site associated with them. You will be surprised I'm sure at what you read.

I suspect what you saw was a news story on the raid the feds executed on their HQ ....

The stock took a pretty big hit .

The stock took a hit ----- "big" is a matter of perspective.

          Last year, they were $50/share.

OK... The stock didn't rise as a result of the Fed raid

"Shares of Lumber Liquidators Holdings added $2.16, or 2%, to close Thursday at $112.96. In after-hours trading, the stock fell 2.6% to $110.05. The stock has traded between $47.31 and $115.59 the past 52 weeks, and has more than doubled since the start of the year."

the net from opening thursday to Friday morning was -.6%, hardly a big change. Seems overall, its doing pretty well.

                Per can money news...

Stock tumbles after raid of Lumber Liquidators

                NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Federal investigators raided the offices of Lumber Liquidators on Thursday, the company authorities said.
Stocks of the hardwood flooring retailer fell sharply on Friday as the news emerged, dropping just over 10% at midday.

I didn't say the stock became worthless.. I SAID it took a big hit as a result of the Fed raid... In my mind a 10% drop in a stock as the result of an investigation is significant...

Glad for stockholders it recovered... I'll make an effort not to respond to similar requests for comments in the future

You do make a good point, Bade. We tend to pick things apart here too much sometimes.

My brother and I have bought a lot of flooring thorugh LL. Especially their low cost raw oak flooring. Good quality. That's not to day that Menards and HD can't beat their prices, because they often can.

Anyway, it sounds like most of the issues in the reviews was around their really low end laminate or vinyl flooring. Frankly, when you buy a crap product, I wouldn't be shocked at having crap results.

As far as the raid, it seems the warrant is sealed, but I'm betting it's not unlike the Gibson raid a few years back, where they were looking for restricted woods. I don't remember what came from the Gibson raid, other than i think they confiscated a lot of their materials as contraband.
