For not too much more I could have. My woodworking days are numbered and there is no need to upgrade the BT3 it serves me well for the amount I use it now. Thanks to this site I have pretty well equipped shop. There may be a display case in the future and a couple of Vanities for the bathrooms all depends on the back and legs. I am gaining confidence i using the iMac at a basic level for right now I have paid some bills and have budget working may try to transfer some files this weekend. In fact I shut the Windows box down and put the monitor in the closet for now, my cave was getting a little cluttered with big monitor on a TV Tray didn't want to knock it over.

When you are ready to trash the windows machine, take the hard drive apart and save the magnet(s). Then smash the platters.

That I do and then deposit the pieces in different trash can at the store or McDonalds. One time years ago when I first go on the internet I stumbled onto a Kiddie Porn sight, whit the hour that HD was at the bottom of the Sacramento River about 20 miles down stream for where I lived and at time I live right across the street from the river, could have walked right through my neighbors gate and up on the levy and tossed it but I didn't want that thing anywhere near me.

.xlsx is the extension for newer versions of Excel. If you save it as .xls you can use Numbers to open it and use it in that program.

              Tom,
I am sure windows problems can be addressed this way too - When you have a problem or question, write it as concisely as possible around key words or needs, and google that. Lots of people think I am still tech savvy, but I just ask and re-ask, or google rather, the question. Many more times than not, the answer appears.

I will also add that there is a knack for asking the right question to get the right answer.

I got the files I wanted transfered by saving them to a thumb drive and then putting that drive in the IMac and opening them and then saving on teh hard drive.

Making . Managed to get the most of the bills paid, there is a formatting issue with some of the web sites the text is kind of messed up, my son say try Chrome instead of Safari. Having all three of my Apple devices sync is a little hassle as my Favorites/Bookmarks all got transferred automatically not what i wanted. Sometime this weekend I will fire up the Windows box and preferred see if I can undo the protection on my Excel files. I am finding answers to my question by doing searches in the help file. I have always preferred printed material to help find it a pain to go searching. I am liking this computer more and more as I go. Well dogs have woken up time to go to dog park and a long walk before it get to hot.

                    Tom,

The glass icon on the right in the tool bar is a very powerful search tool, check it out.

You could open the thumb drive window, then drag the files to the Desktop. That will copy the files without your having to open each one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am making progress every time I use it. Before transfering any more file I need to go through and clean them up, there is so much junk on the Window box, I don't want to transfer every thing. I did have a problem yesterday the mail app. hung and I couldn't read or delete the mail, tried various things yesterday and finially got it working properly. Now the find my contacts so I can send mail. Also installed Chrome which seem to work better that Safari. Going on a ten day road trip starting Thursday so I am not going to do much more until after we get back. The I will start going to the classes and one to one training they offer. I am taking a book on the iMac with me to read in the evening. So far I like the iMac and I am learning more and more.
