True, but considering I paid about $80 for my Colt and this is being sold at Rockler for $99 now in another week they'll have a 20% off code available that'll bring it down to $80 + I already have a free ship code good till late March, so I'll be out less than a comparable DeWalt 911 and still have one of the highest rated handhelds on the market available today for under $170, not too pricey unless compared to the Trend that was being clearanced out months ago but not near the quality here.Just MHO

I do love my colt. It's probably the most used router I own (Bosch Colt, Bosch 1617, PC 7539, and a Ryobi plunge router). But then again, a lot of that is because I've been doing more carpentry than woodworking. But a palm router and a 1/8" roundover is awsome for easing edges for door and window casing. I even had a pro carpenter working on my brother's house borrow mine, instead of using his larger PC.

          +!

I have the Trend, and can make it work, but really covet this Bosch now. The Bosch depth setting on the plunge base is very much superior to the Trend. The 2-base Bosch kit is $180 on Amazon. Pricey, yes, but the excellent edge guide of the 1617 is interchangable, which is a big plus.

Here's how i put mine together around Christmas/New Years:

            Router--
CPO has the reconditioned PR20EVSK on ebay right now for 69.99 with free shipping, which is less than on their own site (new was 84.99 net of the $25 from them). So that's an ebay purchase.

            Base--
            Here's where it got strange...
CPO has the plunge base at $100.00, so it's eligible for $25 discount (only one discount per order--i tried that!!). Put that in the cart at $75. Shipping would have been $6.99, but is free at $99 right now...so picked up a base plate for the RA style bushings at $12 (would have done it later anyway). Left me $13 short on free shipping so i tossed in the roller adapter at $18.

So around $170 shipped with a few extras. Now that i've used it some, i would have been willing to pay more--great little system. I already had the edge guide, and Bosch templates which i've come to like--the ability to use those with the Colt ended the debate i was having with myself about that or the DW611 kit. I'll figure how to light the base later!!

That looks like a nice arrangement. You can't underestimate the abilities of the small routers. The edge guide interchange makes it versatile.

Or for $160 you can get the Dewalt 611PK (Plunge and fixed base). Cheaper if you get a discount. I picked one up from amazon for a little under $130 a while back when they had a promo. I had the colt and it was a good palm router but I think the 611 is a bit better. I especially like the depth adjustment on the fixed base better than the colt. I also like the LED light on the 611. Makes it much easier to see if you're doing inlay.

Also I'm pretty sure the 20% off at Rockler does not apply to power tools.

Good point jussi, the 611 is available for that price at CPO outlet and while I might have considered it I love my Colt, the 20% off coupon won't apply to power tools but can be used on the base as its not a power tool, its an accessory and not considered a power tool in this case

I liked that series. Too bad David Carradine met with such an unusual death.

The Bosch $25 off on $100 or more was a December deal, must have had corporate sponsorship as every online Bosch dealer offered it at the same time.
