I know that is a tough one for the little guy but now that it has been diagnosed they should be able to take care of it (had a similar situation with my mother in law). We have him (and your family) in our thought and wish him a speedy recovery.

Thanks to the miracle workers at BT3 for their prayers!! Our 5 y.o. is home sleeping in his own bed tonight! I can tell he is a million times better than yesterday because he asked for and ate an entire cheeseburger off the grill and kept it in (both ways)!!

I didn't realize how stressful this really was until I was bringing the 3 y.o. to school this morning..... poor bugger... He was itching his face when I was putting on his jacket, 15 minutes later when I was going to drop him off, his face was covered in hives!! Rush to the doctor to "get in line" 30 minutes later, hives gone.... took him shopping for some supplies for home, came home and had lunch, no hives. Brother comes home, hives start over... oiy vey

Just remember, the joy is in the journey. I've just never figured out how the journey to the docs and med centers are joyful. Glad he's home, and on the road to recovery. Keep 'em both healthy, and remember time for you and LOYL as well!!

Sounds like the hives aren't a big deal. What were you told about them?

It makes me happy to hear that he's home and your worries are past.

Little one's are such a great joy and yet so stressful as we worry about them constantly.

That is for sure CWS!
C-man, the hives were very quick to come on so I was concerned that he might have anaphylaxis to something he came in contact with or something he ate that morning, but I couldn't think of anything that was new. I figured to play it safe, because I didn't have anything at home to manage a more severe reaction and he had already gotten a dose of dimetap that morning..

Today they are both doing well, the little one still has some hives but they are nearly resolved.

Any idea what caused the onset of the C. difficile? I've read that it is antibiotics-related. The antibiotics apparently kill all the good bacteria in the gut.

I've also read the worst forms can be very difficult to combat, and there was a story on the radio the other day that said doctors sometimes have to resort to fecal transplants.
