I find it exceptionally sad that there are that many employees screened by the TSA and probably Homeland Security that would be willing to lose their jobs over petty thefts. Who knows what else they could be bribed to do!I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

Let's not forget the 9 out of 10 that called the # on the device and saw to its return. We can be disgusted with the thief, but let's commend the honest agents while we're at it.Comment

good point.
I hear its a tough job in the respect that's it boring and repetitive and you have to put up with dumb, irate, or antagonistic passengers who can't or refuse to follow simple instructions.
It's good to hear that at least 9 of 10 are honest and the moral of the story is don't forget your stuff. Have a mental inventory of what you took out of bags or cases and how many items you should be carrying.
I would imagine there's more than one video camera recording every inspection line at the airport check points.

To err is human...to steal is criminal. By the time the loss is discovered the traveler is in some distant location.

I have to believe that most of the theft is occurring in the baggage handling area that is off limits to customers, i.e. after the luggage leaves your hand and goes behind curtains

All they'd find in my baggage is clothing and toothpaste.

There are a lot of folks that lock there stowed luggage expecting the contents to not be lost, but the DHS has the authority to clip the locks and inspect. I have never had to check anything of value but numerous people have and have found there bags opened despite locks.
Makes me nervous if I wanted to transport firearms to go hunting in another state...I think in straight lines, but dream in curves
