Anyone want to make 10 small boxes?

My boss is wanting to make a gift to the ambassadors we work with. He would like to have 10 small boxes made to hold a stack of standard 3x3 post-it notes.

The box should be cubical in shape, with a bottom and three full sides and a forth side that is enough to hold the notes in place while allowing you to see a logo printed on the side of them

Wood should be an unusual American wood.

Anyone think they could pull something like this off in short order? Price is an issue as they can't be too expensive or we run afoul of the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) which regulates gifts to foreign officials.

So is there any customization you'd like to see on them? What price range are you looking at? What kind of turn around time are we looking at? I make custom hardwood boxes with fretwork cut with my scroll saw. If you'd like to see some of my work

      Pokey,

We have been getting a tremendous amount of spam lately, so we have been careful about approvals for posts with new members. We hate doing that but with over 300 spam posts in the last three days from first time posters, we have had to be careful.

If you don't mind, could you give just a bit more in your profile about yourself. It would be appreciated.

        Welcome aboard.
That is some really nice work there. Patience is definitely a virtue and a must with scroll saw work.
Your work could certainly add a touch of class to a box like this.

I feel for you. The gesture is totally reasonable. The restrictions are probably required but the rules are absurd. I read the links provided and I still don't know what would be an acceptable gift. Why not just say "No gift with a value greater than $XX".

A wooden holder for a scratch pad doesn't seem out-of-order no matter what wood you might make it from.

I've heard the value of such gifts must be less than $25, annually. At least, that's what I'm allowed to accept. Not that I've ever gotten any.

Because of my licensing to sell various financial products (which i can't describe here without prior approval and monitoring), i need prior approval to purchase any item of any value for any person elected or appointed to any governmental office. Translated, that means that now i can't pick up the tab for our Mayor's coffee at our monthly Chamber of Commerce Governmental Committee meetings--unless, of course, i submit a written request to my compliance office at least two weeks in advance.

If i had the skill--i don't think i could get approval to build 10 post-it note boxes for Ambassadors!!

Hmmm....if i could get LOML to run for office...just thinking out loud here...i could never buy her anything. Interesting thought...

Earl, I have the opposite problem. As a state employee, I can't accept gifts more than a certain amount...even from vendors we already do business with. For example, if we already buy 300 copies of MS Office, what harm is it for MS to give some of the IT staff a copy to use at home. It's not like it would influence our purchasing decision...we have to buy or have already bought the product for work anyway.

Now, if a vendor was trying to get me to change to their product and wanted to send my entire family to Orlando for a week so that I could go to a 2 hour seminar on why I should change...I could see the issue there.

Heck, I think the restrictions now are so tight that a McD's milkshake may get me an "ethics" violation.
