My parents braved hour-long lines to vote early, I'm going in a few minutes.
We'll see which was the smarter play. -

Wife was put in the hopital last night so I am not sure what will happen to her vote. She is checking with hopital staff and I am going to check with the polling place before I go to see her in a few minutes to see if there are any provisions to allow her to vote.
I will cast mine on the way back home from the hospital.Don, aka Pappy,

Perfect timing...
...on every level. We vote at my volunteer fire station, so i usually swing in just before lunch, then stop at home, eat and go back to work.
At 11:40 am, no waiting. Voted and stopped to talk with a few of the volunteers. Got paged for a fire--furnace installer caught the wall of a house on fire while soldering. Two of us en-route in about 2 minutes, quick shot with a booster line and it was over. On a normal day--the 7 or 8 minute response (very good for an all volunteer dept) would have resulted in much more damage instead of what will be mostly a clean-up job.
Considering we run only about 150 calls/year, 2/3 of which are medical, the odds of a fire on a weekday morning with 2 at the station are pretty long!! It's a good day!!

My wife and I vote by mail mainly because of the all the propositions, State, City and County that are on the ballot. I like to sit down and slowly go over the ballot and read all the material put out by election officials regarding the issues. We don't read or even look at the mailers put out by the special interests. I try to be as informed and educated as I can when I vote. Now if they would pass a law to stop all fund raising, and campaigning until 18 months before the next election I would be happy. I know the next round of elections is in two years and they will start tomorrow, but give it a rest and do the job you were elected to do please.

I stopped by my precinct polling place about 10:00. There was no waiting, one guy was using the one electronic machine so I took a paper ballot to one of the open booths (only one other was occupied) and blackened the rectangles next to the names I wanted (well, disliked the least).
Signatures in the voting roll book weren't as dense as I've seen them before, but I usually end up at the polls after work.ErikComment
