What are you doing to get ready for Sandy?

We didn't do anything. We've been subject to high winds and a lot of rain. Most of it comes in bands and spurts.

I'll be firing up the generator tomorrow to make sure it's working and rewiring our upstairs panel to be fed off the basement one. Clean up the yard a bit and then cross our fingers. We're not supposed to see much of anything before Monday morning.

No. Boat stands are very sturdy and they're chained together from side to side making it difficult for them to get pushed away from the hull. Additionally the only direction the wind has a clear shot at it is from the Northwest. She should be fine. I'm more worried about the wind blowing leaves into the cockpit and clogging up the scuppers so that she fills with water.

              Sandy

We picked up the yard and put all our outdoor furniture inside. So far, Sandy has been gentle with us here in Williamsburg, VA. We've had steady rain since Saturday night, but it has been fairly light. So far, the winds have only been in the 20's. The storm is due east of us at the moment. Hope it doesn't get worse.

Our Nephew is out here from NYC for his brothers graduation from the CHP academy. He was told that he will not beable to get a flight untill Friday depending on the severity of the strom. Hang in there East Coast, hope you all stay safe in not dry. Our weather out here is so boring, thankfully.

Praying for the folks out east. I am sure New York taking a Hurricane would be like Houston getting hit with a snow storm... No good can come of it...

My Daughter lives in Jersey City, right across from Manhattan. Very worried about the storm surge. High tide was 3 hours ago and water is already at Hurricane Irene levels and rising. Pressure in the middle of the storm is down to 943 millibars which is almost a 100 year low for this part of the Atlantic. Winds are gusting to 31 here right now and I'm 100 miles inland and the storm center is still over 100 miles offshore.

Everyone weather this thing ok? Never lost power. Only issue here was the wind blew rain up under some flashing I hadn't sealed down.

My BIL lives in Manhattan on the 34th floor. The area called for evacuation. He didn't leave. I haven't talked with him yet today to find out how his place fared. He was worried that the windows and sliding glass doors wouldn't stand up to the gusts.

We're several hundred miles away in NW Indiana--winds arrived last night. Woke up this morning and it looks like we shingled the driveway. We'll be getting a new roof for the cost of our deductible--almost a blessing.

Hope our friends to the east are all safe.

Sandy was huge and reached Scarborough, Toronto yesterday evening and blew a stink all night. A picture of one casualty, this one at our oldest boy's house. Some significant damage. One branch came right through the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. This happened 1AM. No one hurt.
When I took the picture they had removed most of the branches, they'll have to wait for a crane to lift the whole trunk off
the roof, picking it up near the top and laying it down alongside the house.

                            Tim
