Though it's probably hard for you guys, try to keep your spirits up, hopefully it will all work out.
Just get use to his complaining about using crutches, I hated them to the point of not using them and that required another operation to undo the damage I created by not using them.

You guys are in my heart.

I'm very glad he's OK - but sell the skateboards? How about buy a good helmet if he doesn't have one!! haha. From the sounds of it, he probably already wears one. It reminds me of an old Seinfeld bit where he talks about how humans are so dumb that we do things that cause life threatening injuries, realize the consequences and then instead of stopping, we invent "the helmet".

If he wants to quit because of fear...that sucks. If he wants to quit because he realizes he doesn't love skateboarding as much as other sports and it doesn't make sense to risk jeopardizing his other activities for something he doesn't like all that much - well, we all have to grow up sometime I guess

Again, I'm glad he's ok and hope he heals quickly!

Thanks y'all! He is back home with momma now. Surgery went fine and he should recover quickly. Dr. says he can ride the bike on an indoor trainer in about two weeks.

The surgery was a little over an hour long. The doctor said the bones went back together nicely and fit right into place which is good. He is in pain this afternoon and you can tell from the look on his face and the fact that he let me kiss his forehead while we were standing there talking.

We go and have a follow up with the doctor tomorrow and will see how the incision is doing and ask some more questions of him.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers they were greatly appreciated.
