right, when converting absolute temperatures you have the 32 degree offset.
So if its 44 deg F outside, yes, it's 7 degrees C.
But When comparing temperature DIFFERENCES, the offset drops out and only the 5/9 ratio applies. So lowering the temperature (a difference) 44 deg F is the same as lowering the temperature 24 deg C, not 7.
Another case of knowing a little but not enough is hazardous.
Maybe its a curse, but when I see numbers I want to try and make sense of them. This one rang my bell immediately.Last edited by LCHIEN; 06-23-2012, 02:40 PM.

44 degrees F is possible. a black dashboard in the sun under glass could probably easily reach 150F (in Texas in June) while being shaded could make that dashboard more like 106F...
12.6 deg F is nothing.
