    A day to remember

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of
patriots and tyrants." This quote is taken from a letter Jefferson wrote
in 1787. I hope all will read the entirety of it. For it puts it in the
    right perspective.

Thank you to all who have served.

Bah. Jefferson makes these bold assertions against tyranny then tyranizes when he holds the presidency.

Others were trying to create a society in which fair laws would provide for the safety and security of its people, with change being accomplished through peaceful, accommodating means. Jefferson was content to expect that people will die in rebellion against the nation when they want change.

I have little repsect for Jefferson's misguided agrarian ideals and penchant for duplicitous intrigue. Bah.

OK I sense this thread is taking a turn for the worse, granted he was president 210 years ago, but we're talking his politics now. Lets return to the solemnity of Memorial Day and the Honor of Freedom and leave it at that.
