    Thoughts on the Woodworking Show

Really a let down from past years. Fewer companies represented and the 'deals' weren't that good. For example the Kreg kits were the same price as in stores with the only bonus being the dust collection attachment.

In the past I have seen Laguna, Lee Valley, and Woodcraft represented. Those 3 come to mind, I am sure there are others. Peachtree occupied the major portion of the floor but, again, for the most part the prices weren't that great.

The concession area was a joke. Overpriced sodas, chips, and candy. I did see some hamburgers sitting out (for how long?) ready to be microwaved.

On the plus side, when I went buy a ticket the girl saw my retiree ID and said just show that, you don't need a ticket. One of the local turning clubs had nice demo area set up just inside the main door.

Another turning area, on the main floor, was giving intruction/help to turn a free pen. I think this was manned by a local club and sponsored by a turning tool company. Tools and supplies were on display for sale but there wasn't any pressure sales like with the other company demo areas.

And it was a beautiful day to spend 5 hours on the 'Glide!

Ditto the Tampa show... d am n economy! The one highlight that I and the fellas I went with enjoyed thoroughly was this french treasure of a showman that entertained us with his scraper/plane that he designed. Really, that was the whole show. I don't think I will go next year.

Well - I met Pappy at 3:00 - did not see anyone else sorry to say. It was my first show, so I have nothing to compare it too. I did pick up the Kreg micro pocket jig for my K3. I thought there would be more demos and Mfgs. Guess I need to lower the bar on my expectations. First time in Katy- nice place. Ate at Babins Friday night -it was okay. Landry's on Sat much better. My wife actually enjoyed the event. She does Stained Glass so some of this stuff really had some intrest from her. Not sure I would go again except for the excuse to spend a weekend away from yard work!

sorry, I posted a change of location to the exhibit area but I guess you didn't see it and I didn't go by the concession area to check. My bad.
