    Scale Of The Universe

This is the big and small of it.
Use the bottom slider scale...to the left is smaller, to the right is larger.

    Rats!!!

Just when I was feeling like exercising my feeling of overblown self importance ... slider to the right will fix that right up!!!

Pretty cool! It helps to put things into perspective, although much of that scale is still hard for me to actually comprehend.

That's really pretty. You know, there's some really big stuff out there. The enormity of it all is overwhelming. Unless some of the rules of physics, as we think we know them, can be suspended, there is no way we could visit even the closest solar system. I find that discouraging.

amazing! It puts some things into perspective & somethings...well I still cant fathom. Some things, I wished I could have panned around & zoomed in on exclusively. My hat is off to the person that compiled all of this info into the program.

First off, amazing job with the technology and graphics and compiling the infomation.

I actually find it a little strange and weird that someone put this together especially knowing that much of it is only speculation (mainly the smaller sizes). Kudos to anyone that's wired to sit down and figure this out for whatever reason they chose.

                    small things

Been measuring picometers and femtometers at work lately. That's .000 000 000 001 meters and .000 000 000 000 001 meters respectively. It's the amount of stretch of optical fibers used to measure temperature and pressure. Oscilloscopes measure down to a few nanoseconds and we also measure acceleration to a few micro-G's - you know we're glued to the planet earth with 1 G of acceleration.

There was a book about some engineers a while back... working on tough technical problems in computer electronics. One of them got frustrated measuring timing races (thats where the order of arrival of two or more signals arriving nearly simultaneously affects the result) of nanoseconds and he blew up one day and left early posting a message on his cubicle saying "I've gone off to join a commune in Vermont where they measure time in units no smaller than a season."
