So what're the two songs you liked this year?

I have a two girls on the cusp of teen-hood, and I am the lone male under this roof (even the hamster is female), so the music in here has been mostly of the feminine variety.

But some of that music turn out to be too good to ignore or put down.

Demi Lovato's Skyscraper has been one such. Not earth shattering, but the song has feeling, even without the video.
Of course, I might be a bit biased, seeing my nine-year-old loves it and sings it very nicely - all day long!

But I was blown away by this :
Adele - Rolling In The Deep - almost a force of nature. The girl has some lungs!

So what are your top two songs of the year? (Sorry, you have to pick just two - otherwise we'd be inundated!)

And yes, please flag it if the song is explicit; nothing against that, but we'd know to avoid playing those when kids are around.

edit : My personal liking is for numbers like these The Von Bondies - C'mon C'mon. Waiting to hear from y'all if anything new matches up.

Lady Gaga, Born This Way. Sorry, I've only got one.

I was so prepared to dislike her, but I've got to give her props; she can sing, she's an original and seems to be just an all around nice person.

LOML and I discovered Vampire Weekend this year. I really liked Horchata by them. It was a great summer song--or a great winter-wishing-it-was-summer song.

I really liked Adele's album, also.

Sad to say, but I can't really think of any songs that were appealing enough to me to stick in my head. Don't know what to tell you.

Not bad! A few minutes ago I returned from Sylvan's CD release party for their new album "Sceneries". They played for nearly 3 hours in a small club in Hamburg, Germany, and mingled with the crowd afterwards. That was just awesome.

Can't really tell my favorite songs yet (Chapter 5: "Farewell to old Friends" is an early favorite), but it is likely on that album! And the sound was just awesome, not some kit playing with the mixer. Even the light was great. Interesting crowd too, evenly mixed between 16 and 70 I'd say. Can you tell I had a great time?
