Signed the agreement and paid a deposit today for a 24 x 20 steel building to be delivered in Oct. That gives me time to get the concrete work done and allows for cooler weather to arrive before assemby with the help from a few friends hopefully. Just a bolt-together operation that should take a few days to put together but looks to be very solid material and ease of assembly seems to be a snap or bolt together operatio, and the price $6870 delivered to my lot. Here the deals, got a discount as they had this as a return that someone had paid a $3k deposit on. I have agreed to make it available to inspect from the outside only and get a referral fee of $500 if they buy on the 1st and $200 on anymore after that. Not a bad deal and look forward to gettin it up and running,http://www.steelbuildinggarages.com/...-a-shop-photos

What do you plan to do on the inside walls? Something I wish I had done when mine was built is in floor dust collection pipes to the area where the the collecter is and then to various other tools. I'd put in pvc pipe under the concrete. I hate those 4" hoses all over the floor. I keep saying I'm going overhead but then you have hoses hanging down all over the place! I told my contractor to not put in any windows as well. I'm in Alaska and I like to make my own weather when I'm in the shop. LOLCork,

Looks like a nice big shop building for the money... but still a lot of work to do.
Besides the foundation, you need a driveway for access, and need to run electrical to the building, internal electric, and lighting. Maybe some insulation and Air conditioning or at least some ventilation if you don't.
I'm sure you must have considered those things.

Looks like a nice building...perfect for a shop. Probably much cheaper than building from scratch. A friend of mine erected a quonset type building (round top) for doing car repairs, and he loves it. It opens at both ends.

Well I had to get out for a while and forgot to check back till this morning. To answer a few questions,Yes it comes with all 4 walls, roof, 2 windows,man-door as the call it and a 10 x 8 ft steel roll up door. I plan to put in a simple gravel driveway to the roll up door. As far as dust collection, it will for the immediate future rely on a roll around grizzly 2 hp unit I recently purchased off CL until I can configure a wall/ceiling mounted system. The guy who came out to complete the sale and I had actually met before at a Hooters one day when my wife and I went to get some wings and he used to be an electrical contracter but has gotten out of the biz and turned it over to his sons and we spoke about getting that done as well. He's only bout 10 miles away from here and he said he could give me a great deal on getting that set up once I get the building up. Biggest task right now is getting that foundation poured. Gotta see what kinda deals I can find on concrete 1st
. The roll up door and windows will be opposite sides to get a decent flow for ventilation. As far as insulation when my FSIL installed heat pump we got for the house he showed me a new concept that they are going to begin offering thru their business. Its a spray on polymer thats a fire resistant insulation thats really quite unique propertys in that he (FSIL) pulled a small piece of aluminum siding out of his freezer about 4 x 4 that had a d-handle on it and held it over the gas stove in his kitchen for about 2 minutes to demonstrate the properties to me, After watching him do this he asked me to touch the other side where the d-handle was attached and it was as cold as ice. I'm looking into seeing what the cost are associated with spraying this on the inside of the building once I get it up as we get some rather hot summers here. I''ll try to get a name on that material for you guys when I get a chance later this weekend as he's coming up. Thats all folks

I'd look into this bio based insulation. It will cut down on noise, stiffen the metal sheeting and works well.

That looks like it will be great Tommy. You're really flying on getting that place in shape.
I wish I could do something similar with an outbuilding. I have about the same amount of space for shop use but it's in my basement. I curse every time I need to monkey a several hundred pound piece of equipment down there, and even lighter stuff can be a bit of a paint with steps and corners if it's bulky. Couple that with a 3 yr. old and a new baby on the way and some extra sound separation would be nice too.Comment

Got the info on that material ,its called Thermacote a ceramic based heat/cooling barrier thats sprayable, Gonna cost bout a grand for the entire building,roof/4 walls to coat but I believe the benefits and rewards over the long run will be to my benefit as far as heating and cooling thru these long hot Ga. summers and our somewhat short winters, heres a link to the material another green product from what I have read. At this point the money saved over the course of several yrs of heating and cooling costs will offset the initial and for me inexpensive initial cost as I'm getting (as usual) a great deal. All they want me to do is allow them to monitor my heating and cooling cost on a smaller building as they usually spray larger commercial buildings and are venturing into the home/shop business now. Fair trade off for the lower cost of installation at this soon to be built shop. Now if I could just get this thing up soon and actually look like someone who builds stuff instead of just buying a lot of tools, I'll be happier and hopefully get to some of the smaller country crafts shows with some goods and maybe make a few bucks. Gotta guy here in Cartersville that'll take all the Pie and Jelly safes I can make. He says he cannot find them to sell and when he does they go for 3-4 hundred a piece. I saw 1 there a few weeks ago made outta pine that was soooo simple and he sold it the same day for $400, musta had maybe $70 in materials and was a very simple piece. Looked like most of the time was spent on the tin and the wife needs a new hobby so figure she should be pretty good at punchin small holes in tin cause she sure has punched a few in my checkin acc. the past month. Guess I should buy some stock in Kohls and Bed,Bath and beyond
