I never got the 25% ammonia I needed to age the oak rocker I made for my daughter. So, I stained a Dark Walnut and applied Formsby's Tung Oil (one coat so far). I'm taking it to Florida this week and I thought I'd get a pic while I still could. I'll be adding another coat of tung oil later on today.

In my old age I look back and realize how lucky I was to live in a time when common sense was common.

Nice looking chair!
FWIW. I built a rocking chair from white oak for a friend of the family. I just put on a couple coats of varnish and gave it to them like that. I did inform them to take a picture and look at it each year to see how the chair acquired its own patina and personality. They were over to the house a month ago and mentioned that the chair had begun to turn a very soft brown.--

Great looking chair. The stain color sure is what the lable claims. For some reason I had to chuckle and thought of Mel Gibson in The Patriot.Donate to my Tour de Cure

I just have to think of Mel Gibson and I chuckle.
Seriously, it looks great and that darn ammonia stinks so bad...

Nice looking rocker, looks aged already. The Formby's Tung Oil Finish is expensive and is not a pure Tung Oil application. You could save money by mixing your own finishes. It's really very simple.
