We used to have two daily papers in Dallas, but the one I liked folded. I still subscribe to the other one though. I really like reading a newspaper - somehow it just feels better than reading news on a screen.

If I had that I would be a serious Stock market investor and sports better. Heck I only need one or two of those papers, not everyday.

I just needed that yesterday, for today's published Powerball numbers. I can think of things to do with $88 million lumpsum

When I was a kid (highschool), I had a paper route, delivering the Binghamton Press over a five-mile country route. Only had 70 customers, but we were pretty loyal to each other.
Somehow that just translated into my own subcription when I became an adult. I always liked getting the evening delivery and reading most of the paper after dinner was just sort of a tradition. Also, it was a great way to keep up with the News from everywhere, including local. Part of subscription, and important to me, was keeping a local kid employed and I always had a nice friendly relationship with whoever my "paperboy" was. Nice kids and they all seemed to grow up responsibly.
But somewhere over time, the "evening" papers went away. Now both in Binghamton and in Corning/Elmira there is only the morning paper. I never liked that, just don't have the time to read it during my busy day and as already mentioned, by the evening I've already heard most everything.
Along with the loss of the evening paper, is the delivery boy! You no longer have contact with whoever it is. It's dropped at like 3:00 in the morning, I hear the noisey car in the driveway or the person slamming the screen door. Even the "collection" is gone and there's simply no contact with anyone, and it's turned into a totally haphazard situation. We often wouldn't get the paper, or it would be missing parts, and since there's no person to contact, all you can do is request a credit from the billing office.
It just reached the point where it proved an unreliable inconvenience.
But, though I'm an AOL member (since it's inception, almost), I hate their News, often slanted and they place a much higher priority on "entertainment" news than anything else.... something for which I have absolutely NO interest.
I do get the daily E-mail from the NYTimes and I listen to NPR through a good share of my mornings. I find NPR's top news stories to be timely (on the hour and half hour through most of the day). Not as often as I'd like anymore, but I'm also a short-wave listener. I think it gives you news stories from several different perspectives and often there's stories that simply are not of any concern to the major U.S. networks. Unfortunately with the work load I have little time for that anymore.
TV has become a regular news source, but I like radio much better (NPR) as I can be doing other things while listening. But, I traditionally catch the national TV news at 6:30 and again at 11:00, and when stories are hot, I'll catch CNN at 10:00. Problem I have with TV is that the "News" has become more important than what happening. Every pundit has to have their own take on the subject and things just get repeated over and over and over. (Like the President's limo, getting bottomed out... must have seen that at least 20 times in the last few days. It may be good video, but after the first report, it's no longer NEWS.
