Three years ago on a visit to Namibia (West Africa), my wife, two friends and I were guests of the chief wildlife biologist at Etosha National Park. We were having sundowners (drinks) on the dry lake bed with a couple of lions lying around 100 feet away from us. At first, I hugged our vehicle for dear life thinking the lions might charge, and then realized the best way to survive if they did charge us was to stay close to the others. As long as they can't separate a weak creature from the herd, lions are going to keep their distance.
