Skynet becomes aware. Judgement Day, 4/19/2011

Today (actually Yesterday, April 19, 2011) is the day Skynet became aware, leading to Judgement Day I, according to the Terminator movies.

That is a good link to read thru - but of course only for those that have some interest in this sort of thing, like me . At first I was surprised at the date, because I remembered it to be long past; the article confirms that the date has shifted over the years.

The Terminator movies rank in my top 10 best ever, both of them, and I was fine with the 3rd too (didn't watch Salvation, because, well...). I think they were the best by Cameron, especially compared to his romantic movies like Avatar . Within the context of its premise (time travel, robot overlords, etc), there was a consistency of logic rarely found in other sci-fi, and real grit (Matrix flamed out, for instance).

In retrospect, the capabilities of Skynet was not all that far fetched (other than the wish to world-dominate, of course). Like ACC said, advanced science is like magic.

    Thanks for the link.

I choose to ignore the entire concept of the Sarah Conner Chronacles. I also choose to ignore T3: Rise of the Machines. In my version the timeline flows directly from T2 to Terminator Salvation.

After all, the only way to save humanity is to ignore bad movies and TV series.

I've also chosen to ignore all Star Trek movies between IV and the reboot and The new Star Wars movies.

I've built a large fabric of intrusion detection servers in our enterprise network and they are all designated skynet-<city abbreviation>. People reaction when they see a skynet server in the rack is always interesting.
