    Jig Mania

HELP!! Just got the latest issue of ShopNotes and golly darn its happened again. My latest catalogs show a new jig to make dove-tail corner inserts with a price of about $199 bucks. Sure enough there in the S/N's it shows how to make the very same thing for about $25 or so. The problem is that I have a collection of neat jigs, half of which I probably won't use more than once. The problem is that every time someone publishes the plan for a new jig I have a unstoppable urge to produce one. So like I said, "its happened again". I start checking to see what I have on hand to build it, what do I need to order, when do I start building? Will it never stop!

Yep, I was planning on making that jig today too. Like with most of my latest jig building intents, I got sidetracked. I did make room in my rack for a few 2x6s to dry a bit for the challenge though.

      No, it never stops.
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

"Stop" is one of those four letter words that begin with "S". Another one is "snow", which we get too much of.

Regards, Steve (a five letter word beginning with 'S')

            Suck it up

You are not alone - I still have several jigs, that need the pics I took at the time, to see why I built them!

They started with "wow, that could be very useful". The upside is, you can learn new techniques when you are building them

I was just reading that issue last night. I couldn't figure out what good that band saw duplicator jig was. Just rough it out and clean it up with a pattern big on your router.... Which you would have to do with the band saw jig anyway... Seems like an extra step not worth taking...

The bench insert system looks a lot like it is based off of the tool stacker idea I got from DonHo a couple of years ago... (Thanks again for that one!). Except I went lazy and simply clamp my stacker board to my bench to get it stable... No need for T track...
