Eclipse photo with a little something extra

If you're willing to travel several thousand miles it's amazing the pictures you can get.

True - this is not a picture of the lunar eclipse we saw a few weeks ago. This is the solar eclipse that happened yesterday (but was not visible in the USA).

So that is no moon - that is the sun. And that photographer went all the way to also get the ISS in the same shot !

What's more, the article states that the international space station was only in front of the sun for 1 sec. Talk about perfect timing.

I am not sure I believe that photo. At least how old they say it is. I have seen that image for years. It's pretty popular in the Houston area...

Maybe not the specific image, but the solar transit of ISS anyway...

Well, you are also right ! The photographer (Thierry Legault) is famous for these pictures, and has made it his life's mission to travel around the world capturing such pictures for so many years. Your link is from 2006, and this new image is from the day before yesterday (both pages give us the complete information of date/time/equipment including the copyright info). Another famous picture by him is the one showing the Atlantis :

As Shep has noted, the timing has to be so perfect that mere mortal-minds would be boggled at the thought.

That is not the ISS. It is a Canadian flag on the sun!
