    WDS ebay story - weird

    The story so far...

Decided to sell my WDS (used twice in 4 years), threw in the Tenon jig. Placed on Oz eBay for $900, "buy now" for $1,000, pickup only.

Two days later (today) SOLD! To someone in West Virginia ??

Buyer said "my shipper will pick up" I e-mailed to say it won't run in the US. "She", yes she, replied that it wouldn't be going to the US, please send a PayPal request for money - which I have done. PayPal doesn't have "her" registered.

This feels all wrong to me - we'll see...

Rod, that is a bad buyer there!

Be VERY alert to this and other buyers under this type of buying scheme.

would you keep us updated if this turns south (no pun intended)?

Yes, be very careful with this one. It sounds like it has an unpleasant odor to it.

          Rod,

This is most likely a scam. They can even generate an email, that looks legit, from PayPal, that says you have received money from your buyer.

Or, they will try to get you to send back some money, for various reasons, before there check, money order, etc. bounces.

Agree, definitely a scam. This type of scam is very common here.

A warning, however, is that 15 days is not enough. It's common for victims of these scams to have the money pulled back 30 days to 90 days after the fact. In rare cases, courts can pull back checks and funds up to six months.

I would insist on cash only from this buyer, if I completed the transaction at all.

Scam, scammer, scammest.. Steer clear, and report her to both Ebay and PayPal...

What is the buyers feedback like? I am betting they have little to none, or a lot of negatives...

Warning!!! That sounds like many of the scam emails I get when I post things on craigslist. Especially the part about sending a shipper to get it. For fun I even replied once telling them I would accept their terms but I needed to be paid in Nigerian currency thinking they would get the hint that I knew it was a scam. Well to my surprise I get a response back saying that it was acceptable and requested my name and address. I just gave them a phony name and the address of the local FBI department
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

                          Hey Rod,

Good to see you're still posting. Even under these "cheat the guy" circumstances.

Right my family is in Oz (Sydney) attending the wedding of a nice I can't stand, so here I am alone and freezng my butt off in NY.

Have a good Christmas and tell your prospective buyer I know of a bridge for sale, but she'll have to send her shipper to pick it up.
