Its treat to hear that. Different cultures can be tricky. My oldest two daughters went to Italy the day before Thanksgiving and were to fly out of Florence to Frankfort on tuesday. However Frankfort was snowed in so they had to wait an extra day and fly into Munich. Then the Munich flight was delayed enough (because of the snow) that they missed their connection in Chicago and had to spend the night there. They got home two days later than expected and both missed a day of work, for which neither were disappointed.

There were 5 ladies in the group, and the other three had never been outside of the US. For those three, it was somewhat stressful and harrowing. To my daughters, it was great to have an extra day in Italy with free housing, food and local transportation vouchers. To them, Even Chicago was pleasant staying for free.

I'm actually still here. I fly out Wednesday morning. I love these cask ales!
Weird to have your bartender pump your beer out of tap rather than just pull
a handle and have your beer just pour out.

Sure, there is outcry in the States when local municipalities seemingly fail to
handle 3'-4' of snow. Here in the UK, they are calling foul on much less snow.
I will say this--someone needs to introduce the Brits to the concept of a snow
shovel. Very few residential sidewalks have been cleared or swept. You're
lucky if someone has "gritted" (salted) the sidewalk--even in the city. Where
I live, if someone falls on my uncleared sidewalk even though it is owned, by
the city, I get sued. Wonder what it is here.
