I have a couple of old Mag Lites (bought new in probably 1989 or 1990) that have been banging around in my hunting gear for years. The batteries in both of them leaked 2 years ago. Disassemble past the seals soak the whole shebang in baking soda / water solution and the batteries and the corroded crud come right out. Dry it up, install new batteries and reassemble and it is as good as new...

If the batteries are Ray-o-vac, energizer, or Duracell, you can send the flashlight to Mag for a replacement:

You only pay shipping to them. They will also repair or replace with other brand batteries for a fee.
