    A Job

I don't know why she can't find a job. It must be discrimination because of her name!

It has to be because of her name. The statement: "Police say the couple tested positive for methamphetamine, oxycodone, THC, amphetamine, opiates and benzodiazepines", probably didn't have much to do with it.

After reading this, does anybody still think there shouldn't be licensing for parenthood?

One more kids life ruined by dirtbags.

her mother liked tequila, hence her name.
I'll bet she named her daughter Crystal Meth Chamlee.

Everyone knows you don't mix Tequila and Baileys! This proves that it's a
            horrible combination.

This sentiment is one of the interesting and sad aspects of working with kids within a community health setting.

We can all agree that this 1 year-old is in a horrible situation. And if she's 5 years old she's in a horrible situation. And if she's 11 she's in a horrible situation. But then she's 16 and she's somehow responsible for her horrible situation and she's also responsible for the horrible situation of her newborn.

With absolutely no guidance, at what point does an unfortunate child miraculously transform into a responsible adult?

I have no answers, I've just spent years worrying about children in horrible situations and then worrying about their children in horrible situations and wondering how to not worry about their children's children...

the answer is that they don't.
Somehow we protect the children of these lost people but we don't cure them. There's some evidence that dependency is hereditary. If we didn't interfere with Darwin, the stupid parents would kill their children outright or though neglect and we'd cleanse the
gene pool. Sounds a bit drastic, though...
