I could certainly see the utility for:
A Oklahoma city style bomb in an unattended truck parked in front of a public building
A truckload full of illegal human smugglees.
A truck full of weapons and or terrorists at a public place (like a sporting event)
A truck with a bunch of hidden compartments or drugs in the tires, vehicle body, or in the gas tank like are frequently used to cross the border.
Checking out a trailer or RV or small home in the event of a armed standoff and wanting to know how many people or where the hostages and actors are.

Last one, maybe. All the rest depend on the van being in the right place at the right time. In a city the size of NY, Dallas, etc., that would be shear luck. As I understand it, the OKC bomb truck was parked a very brief time. Park it, run like ____, blow it. Little chance of being caught by a roving van.

Give folks a chance and they will find a way to defeat it, just like IEDs you know where.

So you're trying to make the case I can't put more bodies on the same plane???
so lets make the plane smaller with the same engines and payload capacity and save a lot of fuel not having to carry so much airplane around.
It's a win-win situation.

Yep, certainly another option. I was just pointing out that new planes of some sort would be needed to make the new system most efficient.

Of course, if we're doing that we may as well make really big planes with gps controlled passenger drop pods so a plane could service half a dozen destinations without landing for every departure.
