The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I usually never recommend films to anyone, mainly because I usually will not spend $7-10 dollars to sit in an overpriced theater, but we rented that film last night and even though it was a foreign film and subtitled (something I despise) this film was very well made and quite a thriller. Its a dutch or norweigian made film ,but it captured my attention for the entire film, that in itself is hard to do. If ya get a chance check it out

I saw this in the Netflix watch it now and thought the 5 star rating was a
fluke. I guess I will have to check it out now.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is the first in a trilogy of books by the Swedish author, Stieg Larsson. I have read the first two, and they are really a good read.

Sadly, Larsson died before they were published, at great success. He died of a heart attack when the elevators were out in his high rise apartment building. Additionally, he never married his companion of 20 years, because he was a muckraker journalist who received many death threats. She is now fighting for her inheritance.

      I highly recommend these books.

I had just requested these books from my library and was curious about them, not knowing much beyond the Amazon description. I am really looking forward to them now.

I have read all three books and I highly recommend it.

Saw the two movies (TGWTDT & TGWKTHN) as well and it was awesome and I enjoyed the film.

Was told that a film was also made for The Girl Who Played with Fire but I have yet to see that one.

Had some doubts when I bought the first book in the series, got hooked and have read all 3. Great books.

We streamed the movie last night from Netflix. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I
don't normally watch suspense/thrillers but this was a good one. This version
was subtitled and they talk a lot in this movie so you need to pay attention.
Lisbeth's character was awesome! So well developed. According to IMDB,
there are 2 more movies and I think a TV show is airing right now with the
same 2 leads. Looking forward to those coming to Netflix.

Another good Scandinavian movie with less sick family drama but drama nonetheless is After the Wedding. I gave that one 5 stars.

I'm in the middle of reading the book. It took a chapter or two before I really "got into it", but its turning out to be a pretty good read. Didn't know it was in movie form, but since I am reading the book, I'll probably pass on the movie.

                  Regards to all, Steve.

We heard it was good and just bought the book. Our county library has lots of hold requests for it and no way either of us have time to read it within two weeks. Will also be netfixing the movie.

I downloaded it to my TiVo last night based on these recommendations and an Amazon ad on my TiVo screen. Was it just released on DVD or is this just a coincidence that Amazon has it on special?

Well, I'm on the waiting list for the book.... I may get to read it come Christmas time, sure hope it's in English.

I like to read the book first so the movie may be on TV when I'm ready.
