don't know if this is the right category

Does the forum want to engage in any new competitions? I was going through some old info and found some postings from this forum back to my early days (that were not that long ago). So in appreciation and for the support, I want to give away some stuff; Whiteside router bits, CMT saw blades or just about anything I sell. If someone can come up with an idea, I'll donate the prizes.

    Great idea, Brian!

I'd be in favor of reviving the 2-by challenge.

As far as I'm concerned with your stock prices and the BT discount you are already giving away stuff.

My only good idea is something I've been looking for the right material for; re-purposed furniture. The idea is you find a piece of curb furniture, rip it down and rebuild something new. I imagine other salvage wood like pallets could also be used.

I think that the first person to ask you to just send the stuff to them should win...

That sir is very generous of you.

I can think of a few categories. The best jig for a BT3 or router. Humorous story involving you and your workshop that does not involve a rope and a deer. Best project with a child. The best solution to someone else's problem.

Thread moved! Holbren I'd say your first offer should go to our host Sam to inquire what he thinks of your idea. I see merit in the idea.

                Not so fast.......

How MANY thousands of clamps do you have? How MANY hundreds of planes?

And, no, I don't have a problem, I can stop whenever I want........

                  Picture Frame Design Contest

Picture frame design using only stock router bits and saw. No carving or heavy shaping beyond what the tools do. Categories for best design; best execution in paint, stain and varnish, and multi-woods.

All entries must show the set-ups for each router cut and the assembly process.

In addition to judging on creativity, elegance and execution there will be an anti-prize for the ugliest most convoluted monstrosity you have built and gotten your wife or significant other to allow on the wall in the house.

What is in the frame doesn't count so it may be a Picasso or deer head.

I'd say a contest for BT3 jigs would be a very appropriate contest, altho it might limit the field. Maybe a prize for BT3 jigs and one for universal jigs (any woodworking tool jig.) I'd offhand guess we are about 50/50 on BT3 users these days.
